To make cork more flexible for its later manipulation, we give our cork a second boiling. The key working tool at this stage of the process is an innovative sterilization chamber. Firstly, it showers the bales. Then, using pressure and steam, it keeps them at a temperature of 100ºC during three hours, always in a clean, decalcified water which is periodically analyzed. Using this process, the TCA levels as well as any impurity, fungus, tannins or volatiles that may still exist are kept to a minimum, or even eliminated.
